A lecturer from the University of Tokaj took part in the SITEVI international viticulture and oenology expo
Every two years, the SITEVI exhibition is held in Montpellier, France, one of the most important events for winegrowers and winemakers. Péter Balling represented the University of Tokaj-Hegyalja at the event between 28 and 30 November 2023, where he had the opportunity to meet and discuss with several potential future professional partners. He also participated in the professional forums organised by SupAgro (University Institute of Montpellier). At the venue, the experience of the Vinifera Euromaster training and future cooperation opportunities (e.g. research, publications, etc.) were discussed with Laurent Torregrosa, Director of the Institute, and his colleague Patrice Lallemand, among others.The exhibition also gave the opportunity to see the products and services of almost 1000 companies with an international background. During the event, the organizing committee awarded several innovation prizes to one of the exhibitors for a new development. Almost without exception, these were presented for the first time during the event, giving the University's staff first-hand information on the latest developments in viticulture and oenology. The integration of these experiences into viticulture and oenology education will also help to develop up-to-date, informed teaching skills. This will also give students an insight into international developments. The results of the participation in SITEVI will hopefully help the University of Tokaj to achieve its future goals.
