Wine economics workshop jointly organized by EUAWE and University of Tokaj

Between April 28 and 30, 2024, a joint workshop was organized by the management of the European Association of Wine Economists and University of Tokaj.

The main topic of the workshop was the Protected Designation of Origin (PDO) and its economic impact, but the workshop created an opportunity to present the history of the Tokaj wine region and its regulation, and to shed light on the research at the border between oenology and healthcare at our university.

On behalf of EUAWE, in addition to the president Jean-Marie Cardebat (Université de Bordeaux - INSEEC), 3 Board members and 3 active members of EUAWE participated (colleagues came from Bordeaux, Lausanne, Milan, Pamplona, ​​Rome and Zaragoza), creating an opportunity to get to know Tokaj-Hegyalja in addition to the professional-scientific program, thanks, among other things, to the also for the support and hospitality of Grand Tokaj and Patricius Tokaj.

On behalf of our University, associate professors Péter Gál and Dániel Homolya, as well as Zsuzsa Szabó, international referee, took a key role in the organization. This program was an important milestone for the University of Tokaj-Hegyalja in order to inspire our wine economics research and increase its international embeddedness.
