Meeting of wine economists from twelve countries in Tbilisi
Dr. Habil. Tamás Köpeczi-Bócz, senior lecturer at our university, participated as a regular member of the American Association of Wine Economists (AAWE) in the 14th annual meeting of the association, which was held in the form of a scientific conference in Tbilisi.
Wine economists from more than twelve countries of four continents took part in the conference. The presentations covered almost all topics, from wine grape production through global and local wine market analyses, as well as from the use of artificial intelligence to the traditional winemaking process.
One of the consensus findings of the conference was the global demand for large quantities of wines of guaranteed quality and flavor that can be guaranteed year after year. In his presentation, Dr. habil. Tamás Köpeczi-Bócz related to this topic, highlighted the operation of the current wine sales and formulated a proposal for a professional redesign of the market organization, with which, according to his calculations, around 120-150 million EUR of national economic benefits could be realized.
